Juripop Mock Trial

Juripop is a Mock trial organized in collaboration with the Montreal Bar and the University of Montreal. Since the fall semester began, we've been diligently working on the factual framework provided by the Juripop team. This framework centers on criminal law and involves significant offenses. My team and I put in much effort to meticulously analyze every detail of the framework, ensuring we didn't overlook any information that could benefit our position.

With a total of 6 months to prepare, we aimed for the day of the mock trial with great anticipation. Within our team, our role was to advocate for the plaintiff, representing the victim, thereby striving to establish the defendant's guilt for all the offenses. I enjoyed this experience immensely as it offered me a profound understanding and practical command of fundamental legal principles. Without hesitation,

I would highly recommend taking part in this committee to others

This year marked my second participation in Juripop. I served as co-president of the committee alongside another Honours student, Léonard. I am pleased to say that our hard work paid off. We formed two teams, each consisting of four students. Additionally, we enlisted the help of volunteer students and a defense lawyer to assist us with our preparations.

In February, both of our teams successfully advanced to the semi-finals. Remarkably, two out of the four qualifying teams were from Sainte-Anne.

After three months of intensive preparation, the highly anticipated day arrived. We were welcomed to the Montreal Court of Appeal to engage in debates before real judges. It was an emotionally charged day. One of our Sainte-Anne teams secured a place in the finals. This achievement was a dream come true, putting Sainte-Anne on the map in Juripop. I am hopeful that we can uphold our reputation in the future!
